As September flows into October, it’s the perfect time to hop into your yoga practice. On October 4th, I taught the first of two Bunny Yoga Classes for SARS (Small Animal Rescue Society). For $20 yogis got to enjoy the benefits from an all levels hatha class in the company of 10 bunnies. Bunnies came by to cuddle during deeper poses. When we stood up in tree pose, the bunnies would rest beside the supporting leg.
One of the things I learned from the experience of teaching the bunny yoga class was to allow myself to experience the wonder of trying new things. There is a sense of magic that comes trying new things. In the past few weeks, I have been going to other yoga classes. Although I teach many different styles of yoga and dance, being a student in other teacher’s classes lets me be a student. With wonder and excitement, I am able to see different poses and shapes with fresh eyes. I find that the revised take on life is making me a better teacher.
For October, my teaching schedule has a few additions and changes to it.
Qi Gong – 7:45 -8:45pm.
In the heart of Mount Pleasant, Just Yoga is a wonderful studio to practice at. Qi Gong is a beautiful way to end the day. Healing sounds, light meditations, self massage fused with traditional medical qi gong movement is a wonderful way to restore, rejuvanate and refresh.
Aerial Yoga – 8:30 -9:30pm
Across from the Steam Clock on Water Street, aerial yoga and pole fitness reign at Tantra Fitness. On Tuesday evenings, I am covering Alex’s classes while she is away. Some of the aerial yoga foundations are fused together into a flowing yet strength building practice.
